For look! Those who are far from you will perish. You have destroyed all those who are unfaithful to you.


One who is slack in his work is brother to him who is a master of destruction.


The one who loves pleasure will be poor. The one who loves wine and oil will not be rich.


There is precious treasure and oil in the dwelling of the wise, but a foolish person swallows it up.


As a bird that wanders from her nest, so is a person who wanders from his home.


Whoever keeps the law is a wise son; but he who is a companion of gluttons shames his father.


Whoever loves wisdom brings joy to his father; but a companion of prostitutes squanders his wealth.


For a prostitute reduces you to a piece of bread. The adulteress hunts for your precious life.


Ah sinful nation, a people loaded with iniquity, offspring of evildoers, children who deal corruptly! They have forsaken YHWH. They have despised the Holy One of Israel. They are estranged and backward.


But look, there is joy and gladness, killing cattle and killing sheep, eating meat and drinking wine: “Let’s eat and drink, for tomorrow we will die.”


Y’all get out of the way, and leave the path. Y’all must stop putting the Holy One of Israel before us.”


“Y’all come,” they say, “I will get wine, and we will fill ourselves with beer; and tomorrow will be as today, great beyond measure.”


“For my people have committed two evils: they have forsaken me, the spring of living waters, and cut out cisterns for themselves: broken cisterns that can’t hold water.


Y’all of this generation, pay attention to the word of YHWH! Have I been a wilderness to Israel? Or a land of thick darkness? Why do my people say, ‘We have broken loose. We will come to y’all no more’?


YHWH says, “What unrighteousness have y’all’s ancestors found in me, that they have gone far from me, and have walked after worthless vanity, and have become worthless?


My people, what have I done to you? How have I burdened you? Answer me!


The younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me the share of the estate that will come to me.’ So he divided his livelihood between them.


When he had spent all of it, a strong famine arose in that country, and he began to be in need.


But when this son of yours, who has devoured your livelihood with prostitutes comes, you kill the fattened calf for him!’


Now Jesus said to his disciples, “There was a rich man who received an accusation that his manager was wasting his possessions.


“There was a rich man who dressed in purple and fine linen, happily living in luxury every day.


But now in Christ Jesus y’all who were once far off have been made near in the blood of Christ.


He came and preached peace to y’all who were far off and to those who were near.


being paid in harm for the harm they have done. They count it a pleasure to carouse in the daytime. They are spots and defects, reveling in their deceit while they feast with y’all.
