When evening arrived, his disciples came to him, saying, “This place is desolate, and the hour is already late. You must send the crowds away so they can go into the villages and buy themselves some food.”


Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him, saying, “Mercy, Lord! This will never happen to you.”


When his friends heard this, they went out to restrain him, for they said, “He is insane.”


As they went on their way, Jesus came to a village where a woman named Martha welcomed him into her home.


But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things,


“And don’t seek after what y’all will eat or what y’all will drink—y’all don’t worry about that.


But Jesus turned and rebuked them,


Now a certain man was sick, Lazarus from Bethany, of the village of Mary and her sister, Martha.


Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus.


So they made him a supper there. Martha served, but Lazarus was among those who dined at the table with him.


Y’all shouldn’t work for food that perishes, but for the food that endures toward eternal life, which the Son of Humanity will give y’all. For God the Father has sealed him.”
