The children of Reuben and the children of Gad named the altar “A Witness Between Us that YHWH is God.”


Joshua said to all the people, “Look, this stone will be a witness against us, for it has heard all YHWH’s words which ʜᴇ spoke to us. It will be therefore a witness against y’all, so that y’all won’t deny y’all’s God.”


Then Samuel took a stone and set it between Mizpah and Shen, and called its name Ebenezer, saying, “YHWH helped us until now.”
