Because they have forsaken me and have burned incense to other gods and provoke me to anger with all the work of their hands, my wrath burns against this place, and it will not be quenched.’”


He went out to meet Asa, and said to him, “Y’all listen to me, Asa and all Judah and Benjamin! YHWH is with y’all while y’all are with ʜɪᴍ. If y’all seek him, ʜᴇ will be found by y’all, but if y’all abandon him, ʜᴇ will abandon y’all.


but he walked in the ways of the kings of Israel, and also made molten images for the Baals.


Because they have forsaken me, and have burned incense to other gods, so as to provoke me to anger with all the works of their hands, therefore my wrath will be poured out on this place, and it will not be quenched.’”’


But if y’all turn away and forsake my statutes and my commandments that I have set before y’all, and y’all go and serve other gods and worship them,


Their land also is full of worthless idols. They worship the work of their own hands, whay their own fingers have made.


and have cast their gods into the fire. For they were no gods, but the work of human hands, wood and stone, and therefore they have destroyed them.


Then it will be for a man to burn; and he takes some of it and warms himself. Yes, he burns it and bakes bread. Yes, he makes a god and worships it; he makes it a carved image, and falls down to it.


a people who provoke me to my face continually, sacrificing in gardens, and burning incense on bricks;


They are worthless, a work of delusion. In the time of their visitation they will perish.


For the customs of the peoples are worthless; They cut down a tree in the forest, and an artisan shapes it with the ax.


Then the cities of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem will go and cry to the gods to which they offer incense, but they will not save them at all in the time of their trouble.


For YHWH Almighty, who planted you, has pronounced evil against you, because of the evil of the house of Israel and of the house of Judah, which they have done to themselves in provoking me to anger by offering incense to Baal.


You have rejected me,” says YHWH. “You have gone backward. Therefore I have stretched out my hand against you and destroyed you. I am tired of showing compassion.


then you are to tell them, ‘Because y’all’s ancestors have forsaken me,’ says YHWH, ‘and have walked after other gods, have served them, have worshiped them, have forsaken me, and have not kept my law.


YHWH, the hope of Israel, all who forsake you will be disappointed. Those who depart from me will be written in the earth, because they have forsaken YHWH, the spring of living waters.


For my people have forgotten me. They have burned incense to false gods. They have been made to stumble in their ways in the ancient paths, to walk in byways, in a way not built up,


Because they have forsaken me, and have defiled this place, and have burned incense in it to other gods that they didn’t know—they, their ancestors, and the kings of Judah—and have filled this place with the blood of innocents,


“For my people have committed two evils: they have forsaken me, the spring of living waters, and cut out cisterns for themselves: broken cisterns that can’t hold water.


“Haven’t you brought this on yourself, in that you have forsaken YHWH your God, when he led you by the way?


“Your own wickedness will correct you, and your backsliding will rebuke you. Therefore you must know and see that it is an evil and bitter thing, that you have forsaken YHWH your God, and that my fear is not in you,” says the Lord, YHWH Almighty.


“But where are your gods that you have made for yourselves? Let them arise, if they can save you in the time of your trouble, for you have as many gods as you have towns, O Judah.


A full wind from these will come for me. Now I will also utter judgments against them.”


For this the earth will mourn, and the heavens above be black, because I have spoken it. I have planned it, and I have not repented, neither will I turn back from it.”


But we will perform-perform every word that has come out of our mouth. We will burn incense to the queen of the sky and pour out drink offerings to her, as we have done, we and our ancestors, our kings and our officials, in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem. For then we had plenty of food, and were well, and saw no disaster.


“Shouldn’t I punish for these things?” says YHWH. “Shouldn’t my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?

“Everyone is stupid and without knowledge. Every goldsmith is shamed by his image, for his molten images are frauds, and there is no breath in them.


Don’t you see what they do in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?


The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead the dough, to make cakes to the queen of the sky, and to pour out drink offerings to other gods, that they may provoke me to anger.


Will you steal, murder, commit adultery, swear falsely, burn incense to Baal, and walk after other gods that y’all have not known,


You took your embroidered garments, covered them, and set my oil and my incense before them.


“‘“I, YHWH, have spoken it. It will happen, and I will do it. I won’t go back. I won’t spare. I won’t repent. According to your ways and according to your doings, they will judge you,” says Lord YHWH.’”


They called to them, so they went from them. They sacrificed to the Baals, and burned incense to engraved images.


For this is even from Israel! The workman made it, and it is no God; indeed, the calf of Samaria will be broken in pieces.


YHWH thunders ʜɪꜱ voice before ʜɪꜱ army, for ʜɪꜱ forces are very great; for ʜᴇ is strong who obeys ʜɪꜱ command; for the day of YHWH is great and very awesome, and who can endure it?


In those days, they made an idol in the form of a calf, and brought a sacrifice to it and rejoiced in the works of their hands.


YHWH will send on you cursing, confusion, and rebuke in all that you put your hand to do, until you are destroyed and until you perish quickly, because of the of your evil practices, through which you have forsaken me.


YHWH said to Moses, “Look, you are about sleep with your fathers. This people will rise up and play the prostitute after the strange gods of the land where they go to be among them, and will forsake me and break my covenant which I have made with them.


If y’all forsake YHWH, and serve foreign gods, then ʜᴇ will turn against y’all, harm y’all and destroy y’all, after ʜᴇ has done good for y’all.”


The rest of the humans, who were not killed in these plagues, did not repent from the works of their hands, so as not to worship demons, and the idols of gold, silver, brass, stone, and wood, but which cannot see, hear, or walk.
