By your hand, YHWH, deliver me from people from people of the world whose portion is in this life. You will fill their belly with your stores. Their sons will have plenty, and they leave their abundance for their children.


Their eyes bulge from fat. The imaginations of their hearts run freely.


Better is a dry morsel with quietness, than a house full of feasting with strife.


“Sacrifices of peace offerings are with me. Today I have paid my vows.


Rejoice, young peron, in your youth, and let your heart cheer you in the days of your youth, and walk in the ways of your heart, and in the sight of your eyes; but know that for all these things God will bring you into judgment.


But look, there is joy and gladness, killing cattle and killing sheep, eating meat and drinking wine: “Let’s eat and drink, for tomorrow we will die.”


Moreover YHWH said, “Because the daughters of Zion are arrogant, and walk with outstretched necks and flirting eyes, walking seductiveley as they go, jingling ornaments on their ankles;


“Now therefore hear this, you who are given to pleasures, who sit securely, who say in your heart, ‘I am, and there is no one else besides me. I won’t sit as a widow, neither will I know the loss of children.’


“Y’all come,” they say, “I will get wine, and we will fill ourselves with beer; and tomorrow will be as today, great beyond measure.”


But you, YHWH, know me. You see me, and test my heart toward you. Pull them out like sheep for the slaughter, and prepare them for the day of slaughter.


Wail, y’all shepherds, and cry, wallow in dust, y’all leaders of the flock. For the time of y’all’s slaughter have fully come, Y’all will fall and be scattered like precious vase.


“‘“Now this was the iniquity of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters had pride, abundance of bread, and prosperous ease, but they didn’t support the hand of the poor and needy.


“As for you, son of humanity, Lord YHWH says: ‘Speak to the birds of every sort, and to every animal of the field, “Y’all assemble and come! Gather from every side to my sacrifice that I am going to sacrifice for y’all, as a great sacrifice on the mountains of Israel, that y’all may eat meat and drink blood.


Woe to those who are at ease in Zion, and to those who are secure on the mountain of Samaria, the notable men of the chief of the nations, to whom the house of Israel come!


“There was a rich man who dressed in purple and fine linen, happily living in luxury every day.


“But Abraham said, ‘Child, remember that in your lifetime, you received your good things, just as Lazarus received bad things. But now he is comforted here and you are in agony.


Let us walk properly as in the day, not in hard partying and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and promiscuity, and not in quarreling and jealousy.


However, the one who lives for luxury is dead even while she lives.


traitors, reckless, conceited, pleasure-lovers rather than God-lovers,


being paid in harm for the harm they have done. They count it a pleasure to carouse in the daytime. They are spots and defects, reveling in their deceit while they feast with y’all.


They are jagged rocks in y’all’s love feasts, feasting with y’all without fear, shepherding only themselves. They are clouds without water, carried along by winds; autumn trees without fruit, twice dead and uprooted.


However much she glorified herself and lived sensuously, y’all are to give her that much torture and grief because she says in her heart, ‘I am seated as a queen, and am no widow, and will never see grief.’
