Therefore YHWH his God delivered him into the hand of the king of Syria. They struck him, and carried away from him a great multitude of captives, and brought them to Damascus. He was also delivered into the hand of the king of Israel, who struck him with a great slaughter.


and a fruitful land into a salt waste, for the wickedness of those who dwell in it.


Again, they are diminished and bowed down through oppression, trouble, and sorrow.


Let the creditor seize all that he has. Let strangers plunder the fruit of his labor.


The daughter of Zion is left like a shelter in a vineyard, like a hut in a field of melons, like a besieged city.


For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen; because their tongue and their doings are against YHWH, to provoke the eyes of ʜɪꜱ glory.


Its streams will be turned into pitch, its dust into sulfur, and its land will become burning pitch.


“For, as for your waste and your desolate places, and your land that has been destroyed, surely now that land will be too small for the inhabitants, and those who swallowed you up will be far away.


Then the lambs will graze as in their pasture, and strangers will eat the ruins of the rich.


In my ears, YHWH Almighty says: “Surely many houses will be desolate, even great and impressives ones, unoccupied.


Then I said, “Lord, how long?” He answered, “Until cities are waste without inhabitant, houses without man, the land becomes utterly waste,


“Whereas you have been forsaken and hated, so that no one passed through you, I will make you an eternal excellency, a joy of many generations.


YHWH has sworn by his right hand, and by the arm of his strength, “Surely I will no more give your grain to be food for your enemies, and foreigners will not drink your new wine, for which you have labored,


Your holy cities have become a wilderness. Zion has become a wilderness, Jerusalem a desolation.


For wickedness burns like a fire. It devours the briers and thorns; yes, it kindles in the thickets of the forest, and they roll upward in a column of smoke.


For all the armor of the armed man in the noisy battle, and the garments rolled in blood, will be for burning, fuel for the fire.


The young lions have roared at him and raised their voices. They have made his land waste. His cities are burned up, without inhabitant.


A lion has gone up from his thicket, and a destroyer of nations. He is on his way. He has left his place to make your land desolate. Your cities be laid waste, without inhabitant.


Therefore my wrath and my anger was poured out, and was kindled in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem, and they became a ruin and desolate, as they are today.’


Be instructed, Jerusalem, lest my soul be alienated from you, lest I make you a desolation, an uninhabited land.”


Then I will cause to cease from the cities of Judah and from the streets of Jerusalem the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, for the land will become a waste.”


Our inheritance has been turned over to strangers, our houses to aliens.


therefore, I am about to deliver you to the children of the east as a possession. They will set their encampments in you and make their dwellings in you. They will eat your fruit and they will drink your milk.


I will make the rivers dry, and will sell the land into the hand of evil men. I will make the land desolate, and all that is therein, by the hand of foreigners. I, YHWH, have spoken it.”


Strangers have devoured his strength, and he doesn’t realize it. Indeed, gray hairs are here and there on him, and he doesn’t realize it.


For they sow the wind, and they will reap the whirlwind. He has no standing grain. The stalk will yield no head. If it does yield, strangers will swallow it up.


I will scatter y’all among the nations, and I will draw out a sword after y’all. Y’all’s land will become desolate, and y’all’s cities will become waste.


Then the land will enjoy its Sabbaths as long as it lies desolate and y’all are in the land of y’all’s enemies. Even then the land will rest and enjoy its Sabbaths.


I will cut off the cities of your land and will tear down all your strongholds.


Therefore I also have struck you with a grievous wound. I have made you desolate because of your sins.


A nation that you don’t know will eat the fruit of your ground and all of your work. You will only be oppressed and crushed always,


The foreigner who is among you will mount up above you higher and higher, and you will come down lower and lower.


that all of its land is sulfur, salt, and burning, that it is not sown, doesn’t produce, nor does any grass grow in it, like the overthrow of Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboiim, which YHWH overthrew in his anger, and in his wrath.
