YHWH spoke to Moses, “You must go down quickly! For your people, whom you brought up out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves!


The earth also is polluted under its inhabitants, because they have transgressed the laws, violated the statutes, and broken the everlasting covenant.


Y’all must return to the one y’all have greatly rebelled, children of Israel.


YHWH says to this people: “Even so they have loved to wander. They have not restrained their feet. Therefore YHWH does not accept them. Now ʜᴇ will remember their iniquity, and punish them for their sins.”


“You, son of humanity, prophesy and say, ‘Lord YHWH says this concerning the children of Ammon, and concerning their reproach: “A sword! A sword is drawn! It is polished for the slaughter, to cause it to devour, that it may be as lightning;


“Israel, you have sinned from the days of Gibeah. There they remained. The battle against the children of iniquity doesn’t overtake them in Gibeah.


It will be like people, like priest; and I will punish them for their ways, and will repay them for their deeds.


“Y’all must blow the cornet in Gibeah, and the trumpet in Ramah! Y’all must sound a battle cry at Beth Aven: Behind you, Benjamin!


They don’t consider in their hearts that I remember all their wickedness. Now their own deeds have engulfed them. They are before my face.


As for the sacrifices of my offerings, they sacrifice meat and eat it, but YHWH doesn’t accept them. Now he will remember their iniquity, and punish their sins. They will return to Egypt.


A prophet watches over Ephraim with my God. A fowler’s snare is on all of his paths, and hostility in the house of his God.


I said, “Just fear me. Receive correction,” so that her dwelling won’t be cut off, according to all that I have appointed concerning her. But they rose early and corrupted all their doings.


His master said to him, “We won’t enter into the city of a foreigner that is not of the children of Israel; but we will pass over to Gibeah.”


That evening, an old man came from his work out of the field. Now the man was from the hill country of Ephraim, and he lived in Gibeah, but the men of the place were Benjamites.


As they were making their hearts merry, suddenly, the men of the city, certain wicked fellows, surrounded the house, beating at the door. They spoke to the master of the house, the old man, saying, “Bring out the man who came into your house, that we can have sex with him!”


They surrounded the Benjamites, chased them, and trod them down at their resting place, as far as near Gibeah toward the sunrise.
