Those who trust in their wealth, and boast in the multitude of their riches—


“Here is the man who didn’t make God his strength, but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness.”


Y’all must not trust in oppression. Y’all must not vainly hope in robbery. If riches increase, y’all must not set your heart on them.


A false balance is an abomination to YHWH, but accurate weights are his delight.


There is a generation that is pure in their own eyes, yet are not washed from their filthiness.


“So is the way of an adulterous woman: She eats and wipes her mouth, and says, ‘I have done nothing wrong.’


“How can you say, ‘I am not defiled. I have not gone after the Baals’? See your way in the valley. Know what you have done. You are a swift dromedary traversing her ways,


“Yet you said, ‘I am innocent. Surely his anger has turned away from me.’ “I will certainly judge you, because you say, ‘I have not sinned.’


As a cage is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit. Therefore they have become great, and grew rich.


By your great wisdom and by your trading you have increased your riches, and your heart is lifted up because of your riches—”


According to their pasture, so were they filled; they were filled, and their heart was exalted. Therefore they have forgotten me.


Israel, return to YHWH your God; for you have fallen because of your sin.


They feed on the sin of my people, and set their heart on their iniquity.


saying, ‘When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell grain? And the Sabbath, that we may market wheat, making the ephah small, and the shekel large, and dealing falsely with balances of deceit;


Therefore it sacrifices to its net and burns incense to its dragnet. Because through them his life is luxurious and his food is good.


Their buyers slaughter them and go unpunished. Those who sell them say, ‘Blessed be YHWH, for I am rich;’ and their own shepherds don’t pity them.


Y’all have wearied YHWH with your* words. Yet y’all say, “How have we wearied him?” Because y’all say, “Everyone who does evil is good in eyes of YHWH, and ʜᴇ delights in them,” or “Where is the God of justice?”


“Y’all’s words against me are harsh,” says YHWH. “Yet y’all say, ‘What have we said against you?’


But wanting to justify himself, he asked Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”


I will tell my soul, “Soul, you have lots of goods stored up for many years. Take it easy, eat, drink, and be merry.”’


No servant can serve two masters. A person will hate the one and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other. Y’all can’t serve both God and wealth.”


Jesus said to them, “Y’all are the ones who justify yourselves* in the sight of humans, but God knows y’all’s hearts. For what is highly esteemed by humans is detestable in the sight of God.


You say might in your heart, “My power and the strength of my hand has gotten me this wealth.”


Charge those who are rich in this present age not to be arrogant or have their hope set on the uncertainty of riches, but on the living God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy.


and constant friction between humans with corrupt minds who are destitute of the truth and suppose that godliness is a means of gain.


Because you say, ‘I am wealthy and have become wealthy, and I need nothing.’ But you don’t know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked.
