The boys grew. Esau was a skillful hunter, a man of the field. Jacob was a quiet man, living in tents.


the king said to Nathan the prophet, “See now, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of God dwells within curtains.”


They kept the feast of booths, as it is written, and offered the daily burnt offerings by number, according to the ordinance, as the duty of every day required;


none of them can redeem-redeem their brother, nor give God a ransom for them.


I am YHWH, your God, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt. Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.


“I am YHWH your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.


There is a generation that is pure in their own eyes, yet are not washed from their filthiness.


Y’all must not build a house, sow seed, plant a vineyard, or own one. Instead, for all your* days, y’all are to dwell in tents, so that y’all may live many days in the land where y’all live as nomads.’


As a cage is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit. Therefore they have become great, and grew rich.


“When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt.


“Yet I have been YHWH your God since the land of Egypt. You are to acknowledge no god but me, and besides me there is no savior.


I will give her vineyards from there, and the valley of Achor for a door of hope; and she will respond there as in the days of her youth, and as in the day when she came up out of the land of Egypt.


Y’all must have honest balances, honest weights, a honest ephah, and a honest hin. I am YHWH y’all’s God, who brought y’all out from the land of Egypt.


I am YHWH y’all’s God, who brought y’all out of the land of Egypt, so that y’all would not be their slaves. I have broken the bars of y’all’s yoke and enabled y’all walk upright.


For I brought you up out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed you out of the house of bondage. I sent before you Moses, Aaron, and Miriam.


Their buyers slaughter them and go unpunished. Those who sell them say, ‘Blessed be YHWH, for I am rich;’ and their own shepherds don’t pity them.


I am YHWH y’all’s God, who brought y’all out of the land of Egypt, to be y’all’s God: I am YHWH y’all’s God.”


Now the Jewish Festival of Booths was near.
