Now Laban had gone to shear his sheep; and Rachel stole her father’s household idols.


Now, you have gone-gone, because you longed-longed for your father’s house, but why have you stolen my gods?”


Now Rachel had taken the household idols, put them in the camel’s saddle, and sat on them. Laban felt around all the tent, but didn’t find them.


When Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, the prince of the land, saw her, he took her, lay with her by force.


While Israel lived in that land, Reuben went and lay with Bilhah, his father’s concubine, and Israel heard of it. Now the sons of Jacob were twelve.


What one nation in the earth is like your people, even like Israel, whom God went to redeem to himself for a people, and to make ʜɪᴍꜱᴇʟꜰ a name, and to do great things for y’all, and awesome things for your land, before your people, whom you redeemed for yourself from Egypt, from the nations and their gods?


However every nation made gods of their own, and put them in the houses of the high places which the Samaritans had made, every nation in their cities in which they lived.


Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, “Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh will come again to you, and you will be clean.”


For all the gods of the peoples are worthless idols, but YHWH made the heavens.


When the days of their feasting had run their course, Job sent for them and sanctified them. He rose up early in the morning and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all. For Job said, “It may be that my sons have sinned, and renounced God in their hearts.” Job did so continually.


Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity. Cleanse me from my sin.


Purify me with hyssop, and I will be clean. Wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.


YHWH said to Moses, “Go to the people, and sanctify them today and tomorrow, and let them wash their garments,


Moses went down from the mountain to the people, and sanctified the people; and they washed their clothes.


“Y’all must be careful to do all things that I have said to y’all. Y’all must not invoke the name of other gods or even let them be heard out of your lips.


Guard your steps when you go to God’s house; for to draw near to listen is better than to give the sacrifice of fools, for they don’t know that they do evil.


Y’all must wash and clean yourselves*. Y’all must remove the of y’all’s evil deeds from before my eyes. Y’all must stop to do evil.


Y’all Depart! Depart! Go out from there! Y’all must not touch any unclean thing! Go out from among her! Cleanse yourselves, y’all who carry YHWH’s vessels.


I have seen your abominations, even your adulteries and your neighing, the lewdness of your prostitution, on the hills in the field. Woe to you, Jerusalem! You will not be made clean. How long will it yet be?”


Can humans make their own gods? But they aren’t gods!”


“How can I pardon you? Your children have forsaken me, and sworn by what are no gods. When I had fed them to the full, they committed adultery, and assembled themselves in troops at the prostitutes’ houses.


Y’all must throw away all y’all’s transgressions which y’all have committed, and y’all must fashion a new heart and a new spirit. For why will y’all die, house of Israel?


I said to them, ‘Each of y’all must throw away the detestable things before your eyes. Y’all must not defile yourselves* with the idols of Egypt. I am YHWH y’all’s God.’


I will sprinkle clean water on y’all, and y’all will be clean. I will cleanse y’all from all your* filthiness and from all your* idols.


They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold, and of silver, of bronze, of iron, of wood, and of stone.


Whoever touches his bed must wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the evening.


But if they don’t wash them, or bathe their flesh, then they will bear their iniquity.’”


On the seventh day, y’all are to wash y’all’s clothes and then y’all will be clean. Afterward y’all may enter the camp.”


And y’all see and hear that this Paul has convinced and turned many people, not just here in Ephesus, but almost all throughout Asia. He says that gods that made with human hands are not gods.


Y’all must not become idolaters as some of them were. As it is written, “The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.”


Therefore, beloved, since we have these promises, let’s cleanse ourselves from everything that defiles the flesh and the spirit, bringing holiness to completion in the fear of God.


However at that time, when y’all didn’t know God, y’all were in bondage to those who by nature are not gods.


and the curse if y’all do not listen to the commandments of YHWH y’all’s God, but turn aside from the way that I am commanding y’all today by following after other gods which y’all have not known.


They moved him to jealousy with strange gods. They provoked him to anger with abominations.


“You must have no other gods before me.


Y’all must not follow after other gods, the gods of the peoples who are around y’all,


Y’all must burn the idol of their gods with fire. Do not covet the silver or the gold that is on them, nor take it for yourself, so that you are not snared in it, for it is an abomination to YHWH your God.


let’s draw near with a sincere heart in the full assurance that comes from faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and having our body washed with pure water.


Y’all draw near to God, and ʜᴇ will draw near to y’all. Cleanse your* hands, y’all sinners, and purify your* hearts, y’all double-minded.


so that y’all do not come among these nations, these that remain among y’all. Y’all must not invoke the name of their gods, or swear by them, or serve them, or bow down to them.


“Therefore y’all are to fear YHWH and worship ʜɪᴍ in sincerity and in truth. Y’all must turn from the gods your* ancestors worshiped beyond the River in Egypt and worship YHWH.


If it seems terrible in your* eyes to worship YHWH, y’all must choose today whom y’all will worship—the gods y’all’s ancestors worshiped beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land y’all dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve YHWH.”


Joshua said to all the people, “YHWH, the God of Israel, says, ‘Long ago, y’all’s ancestors lived beyond the River, even Terah, the father of Abraham and the father of Nahor. They served other gods.


If y’all forsake YHWH, and serve foreign gods, then ʜᴇ will turn against y’all, harm y’all and destroy y’all, after ʜᴇ has done good for y’all.”


“Now therefore y’all must throw away the foreign gods among y’all, and incline y’all’s heart to YHWH, the God of Israel.”


and save some by snatching them out of the fire. On others, y’all should show mercy with fear, hating even the clothing stained by the flesh.


They put away the foreign gods from among them and served YHWH; and his soul was grieved for the misery of Israel.
