So the king took counsel and made two calves of gold. Then he said to them, “It is too much for y’all to go up to Jerusalem. Israel, here are your gods that brought you up from the land of Egypt!”


He did very abominably in following idols, according to all that the Amorites did, whom YHWH cast out before the children of Israel.


King Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglath Pileser king of Assyria, and saw the altar that was at Damascus; and King Ahaz sent to Urijah the priest a drawing of the altar and plans to build it.


But he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, and even made his son to pass through the fire, according to the abominations of the nations whom YHWH cast out from before the children of Israel.


Also Judah didn’t keep the commandments of YHWH their God, but walked in the statutes of Israel which they made.


However they didn’t listen, and they continued doing what they did before.


He did that which was evil in YHWH’s sight, after the abominations of the nations whom YHWH cast out before the children of Israel.


but mixed themselves with the nations, and learned their works.


You must not bow down to their gods, nor serve them, nor follow their practices, but you must overthrow-overthrow them and demolish-demolish their pillars.


YHWH says, “Y’all are not to learn the way of the nations, and y’all must not be terrified of the signs in the sky, though the nations are terrified at them.


She has rebelled against my ordinances in doing wickedness more than the nations, and against my statutes more than the countries that are around her; for they have rejected my ordinances, and as for my statutes, they have not walked in them.’


Ephraim is oppressed, he is crushed in judgment, because he is intent in his pursuit of idols.


Y’all must not do as they do in the land of Egypt where y’all lived, and y’all must not do as they do in the land of Canaan, where I am bringing y’all. Y’all must not walk according to their statutes.


“‘Y’all must not make worthless idols, or must not raise up a carved image or a pillar. And y’all must not place a carved stone in y’all’s land to bow down to it. For I am YHWH y’all’s God.


For the statutes of Omri and all the works of Ahab’s house are observed. Y’all walk in their counsels, that I may bring you to ruin, and your inhabitants to derision. Y’all will bear the reproach of the nations.”


When you have come into the land which YHWH your God gives you, you must not learn to imitate the abominations of those nations.
