Ben Hadad listened to King Asa, and sent the captains of his armies against the cities of Israel; and they struck Ijon, Dan, Abel Maim, and all the storage cities of Naphtali.


For Ahaz took away a portion out of the house of YHWH, and out of the house of the king and of the princes, and gave it to the king of Assyria; but it didn’t help him.


Therefore YHWH his God delivered him into the hand of the king of Syria. They struck him, and carried away from him a great multitude of captives, and brought them to Damascus. He was also delivered into the hand of the king of Israel, who struck him with a great slaughter.


Isn’t Calno like Carchemish? Isn’t Hamath like Arpad? Isn’t Samaria like Damascus?”


The burden of Damascus. “Look, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it will be a ruinous heap.


Elam carried his quiver, with chariots of men and horsemen; and Kir uncovered the shield.


Truly, YHWH, the kings of Assyria have destroyed all the countries and their land,


For before the child knows to refuse the evil and choose the good, the land whose two kings you abhor will be forsaken.


“The bricks have fallen, but we will build with cut stone. The sycamore fig trees have been cut down, but we will put cedars in their place.”


Therefore YHWH will set up on high against him the adversaries of Rezin, and will stir up his enemies,


Are y’all not like the children of the Ethiopians to me, children of Israel?” says YHWH. “Haven’t I brought up Israel out of the land of Egypt, and the Philistines from Caphtor, and the Syrians from Kir?
