In the days of Pekah king of Israel, Tiglath Pileser king of Assyria came and took Ijon, Abel Beth Maacah, Janoah, Kedesh, Hazor, Gilead, and Galilee, all the land of Naphtali; and he carried them captive to Assyria.


Urijah the priest built an altar. According to all that King Ahaz had sent from Damascus, so Urijah the priest made it for the coming of King Ahaz from Damascus.


He built altars in the house of YHWH, of which YHWH said, “I will put my name in Jerusalem.”


“All this”, David said, “I have been made to understand in writing from YHWH’s hand, even all the works of this pattern.”


Thus they were defiled with their works, and prostituted themselves in their deeds.


Moses wrote all YHWH’s words, then rose up early in the morning and built an altar at the base of the mountain, with twelve pillars for the twelve tribes of Israel.


Moses inspected all the work and saw that they had done it as YHWH had commanded. They had done so; and Moses blessed them.


I will call as faithful witnesses: Uriah the priest and Zechariah the son of Jeberechiah.”


YHWH says, “Y’all are not to learn the way of the nations, and y’all must not be terrified of the signs in the sky, though the nations are terrified at them.


You have played the prostitute also with the Assyrians, because you were insatiable; yes, you have played the prostitute with them, and yet you weren’t satisfied.


If they are ashamed of all that they have done, make known to them the form of the house, its fashion, its exits, its entrances, its structure, all its ordinances, all its forms, and all its laws; and write it in their sight, that they may keep the whole form of it, and all its ordinances, and do them.


in their setting of their threshold by my threshold and their door post beside my door post. There was a wall between me and them; and they have defiled my holy name by their abominations which they have committed. Therefore I have consumed them in my anger.


Because they ministered to them before their idols, and became a stumbling block of iniquity to the house of Israel, therefore I have lifted up my hand against them,” says Lord YHWH, “and they will bear their iniquity.


they do not need to their father or mother.’ By this, y’all have nullified the commandment of God for the sake of y’all’s tradition.


And they worship me in vain, teaching as doctrine human rules.’”


Y’all must not be conformed to this world. Instead y’all are to be transformed by the renovation of the mind, so that y’all may test and approve what the will of God is—that which is good, pleasing, and perfect.


be careful that you are not ensnared to follow them after they are destroyed from before you, and that you not inquire after their gods, saying, “How do these nations serve their gods? I will do likewise.”


“Therefore we said, ‘When they tell us or our generations this in time to come, that we will say, “Look at the replica of the altar of YHWH that our ancestors made, not for burnt offering, nor for sacrifice, but as a witness between us and y’all.”’


knowing that it was not with corruptible things like silver or gold that y’all were redeemed from the useless way of life handed down from y’all’s ancestors,
