For he walked in all the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and in his sins with which he made Israel to sin, to provoke YHWH, the God of Israel, to anger with their vanities.


Ahab made the Asherah; and Ahab did more yet to provoke YHWH, the God of Israel, to anger than all the kings of Israel who were before him.

The king commanded Hilkiah the high priest, and the priests of the second order, and the keepers of the threshold, to bring out of the temple of YHWH all the vessels that were made for Baal, for the Asherah, and for all the army of the sky; and he burned them outside of Jerusalem in the fields of the Kidron, and carried their ashes to Bethel.


Let favor be shown to the wicked, yet he will not learn righteousness. In the land of uprightness he will deal wrongfully, and will not see YHWH’s majesty.


Instead this is what y’all are to do with them: y’all must break down their altars, dash their pillars into pieces, cut down their Asherah poles, and y’all must burn their idols with fire.
