The priest delivered to the captains over hundreds the spears and shields that had been King David’s, which were in the house of YHWH.


Then he brought out the king’s son, and put the crown on him, and gave him the covenant, and they made him king. They anointed him and clapped their hands, and said, “Long live the king!”


Y’all are to surround the king, every man with his weapons in his hand. Anyone who approaches the ranks must be killed. Y’all are to stay with the king when he goes out and when he comes in.”


He stood before the altar of YHWH in the presence of all the assembly of Israel, and spread out his hands


“You are to set the altar of burnt offering before the door of the tabernacle of the Tent of Meeting.


He brought me into the inner court of the house of YHWH; and I saw at the door of the temple of YHWH, between the porch and the altar, there were about twenty-five men with their backs toward the temple of YHWH and their faces toward the east. They were worshiping the sun toward the east.


Let the priests, the ministers of YHWH, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say, “Spare your people, YHWH, and don’t give your heritage to reproach, that the nations should rule over them. Why should they say among the peoples, ‘Where is their God?’”


so that upon y’all will come all the righteous blood shed on the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zachariah son of Barachiah, whom y’all murdered between the sanctuary and the altar.


from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zachariah, who was killed between the altar and the sanctuary.’ Yes, I tell y’all, this generation will be held responsible for all of it.
