Because they have forsaken me and have burned incense to other gods and provoke me to anger with all the work of their hands, my wrath burns against this place, and it will not be quenched.’”


He burned the house of YHWH, the king’s house, and all the houses of Jerusalem. He burned every great house with fire.


Therefore the wrath of YHWH was on Judah and Jerusalem, and ʜᴇ has delivered them an object of terror, horror, and hissing scorn, as y’all can see with you* eyes.


They burned God’s house, broke down the wall of Jerusalem, burned all its palaces with fire, and destroyed all of its valuable vessels.


This house, which is so high, everyone who passes by it will be astonished and say, ‘Why has YHWH done this to this land and to this house?’


Our holy and our beautiful house where our fathers praised you is burned with fire. All our pleasant places are laid waste.


It will happen, when you tell this people all these words, and they ask you, ‘Why has YHWH pronounced all this great evil against us?’ or ‘What is our iniquity?’ or ‘What is our sin that we have committed against YHWH our God?’

When y’all ask, ‘Why has YHWH our God done all these things to us?’ Then you are to say to them, ‘Just as y’all have forsaken me and served foreign gods in y’all’s land, so y’all will serve strangers in a land that is not your own.’


Because of YHWH’s wrath she won’t be inhabited, but she will be completely desolate. Everyone who goes by Babylon will be astonished, and scoff at all her wounds.


He burned the house of YHWH, and the king’s house, and all the houses of Jerusalem. Every great house, he burned with fire.


All that pass by clap their hands at you. They hiss and wag their head at the daughter of Jerusalem, saying, “Is this the city that men called ‘The perfection of beauty, the joy of the whole earth’?”


He has confirmed his words, which he spoke against us and against our judges who judged us, by bringing on us a great evil; for under the whole sky, such has not been done as has been done to Jerusalem.


You will become an astonishment, a proverb, and a byword among all the peoples where YHWH will lead you away.
