And when Jesus went ashore and saw a large crowd, he was moved with compassion for them and healed their sick.


Then Jesus called his disciples over and said, “I have compassion on the crowd because they have stayed with me now for three days and have nothing to eat. I do not want to send them away without having eaten, lest they faint on the way.”


When he saw the crowds, he was moved with compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.


Now many saw them going away and recognized Jesus. They ran together on foot from all the towns, got there ahead of them, and gathered around him.


When the hour was already quite late, his disciples came to him and said, “This place is desolate, and the hour is now late.


In those days, when there was a very large crowd that had nothing to eat, Jesus called his disciples over and said to them,


“I have compassion on the crowd because they have stayed with me now for three days and have nothing to eat.


But when the crowds found out about it, they followed him. So he welcomed them and spoke to them about the kingdom of God, and cured those who had need of healing.


Therefore he had to become like his brothers in every way, so that he could be a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, in order to make atonement for the sins of the people.


For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are, yet was without sin.
