Then they spit in his face and struck him. Others slapped him,


When Jesus said this, one of the officers standing nearby slapped him and said, “Is that how yoʋ answer the high priest?”


Jesus answered him, “If I have spoken wrongly, testify as to what was wrong; but if I have spoken well, why are yoʋ hitting me?”


Five days later the high priest Ananias came down with the elders and an attorney named Tertullus. They presented their case against Paul to the governor.
