“I baptize you with water for repentance, but he who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.


He proclaimed, “After me comes one who is mightier than I, the strap of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie.


On the next day John saw Jesus coming to him and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!


And I have seen and testified that this is the Son of God.”


As Jesus walked by, John looked at him and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God.”


Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to complete his work.


He who speaks on his own authority seeks his own glory, but he who seeks the glory of the one who sent him is true, and there is no unrighteousness in him.


For when David had served God's purpose in his own generation, he fell asleep, was added to his fathers, and saw corruption.


Then Paul said, “John baptized with a baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in the one who was to come after him, that is, in Christ Jesus.”


But I take no account of these things, nor do I regard my life as precious to myself, if only I may complete my course with joy and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.


For what we preach is not ourselves, but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake.


I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.


When they have finished their testimony, the beast that comes up out of the abyss will wage war against them, and overpower and kill them.
