I pour out my complaint before him, I tell my trouble before him.


Thou hast said, “Seek ye my face.” My heart says to thee, “Thy face, Lord, do I seek.”


These things I remember, as I pour out my soul: how I went with the throng, and led them in procession to the house of God, with glad shouts and songs of thanksgiving, a multitude keeping festival.


and call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.”


I think of God, and I moan; I meditate, and my spirit faints. Selah


When he slew them, they sought for him; they repented and sought God earnestly.


When he calls to me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will rescue him and honor him.


They said to him, “Thus says Hezekiah, ‘This day is a day of distress, of rebuke, and of disgrace; children have come to the birth, and there is no strength to bring them forth.


who say to a tree, ‘You are my father,’ and to a stone, ‘You gave me birth.’ For they have turned their back to me, and not their face. But in the time of their trouble they say, ‘Arise and save us!’


O inhabitant of Lebanon, nested among the cedars, how you will groan when pangs come upon you, pain as of a woman in travail!”


Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you.


Arise, cry out in the night, at the beginning of the watches! Pour out your heart like water before the presence of the Lord! Lift your hands to him for the lives of your children, who faint for hunger at the head of every street.


I will return again to my place, until they acknowledge their guilt and seek my face, and in their distress they seek me, saying,


They do not cry to me from the heart, but they wail upon their beds; for grain and wine they gash themselves, they rebel against me.


And the people came to Moses, and said, “We have sinned, for we have spoken against the Lord and against you; pray to the Lord, that he take away the serpents from us.” So Moses prayed for the people.


Those whom I love, I reprove and chasten; so be zealous and repent.


And the people of Israel said to the Lord, “We have sinned; do to us whatever seems good to thee; only deliver us, we pray thee, this day.”


But Hannah answered, “No, my lord, I am a woman sorely troubled; I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but I have been pouring out my soul before the Lord.
