David said to Nathan, “I have sinned against the Lord.” Nathan said to David, “Now the Lord has put away your sin; you shall not die.


Why have you despised the word of the Lord, to do what is evil in his sight? You have struck down Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and have taken his wife to be your wife, and have killed him with the sword of the Ammonites.


When its boughs are dry, they are broken; women come and make a fire of them. For this is a people without understanding; therefore he that made them will not have compassion on them, he that formed them will show them no favor.


And I will dash them one against another, parents and children together, says the Lord. I will not pity or spare or have compassion when I destroy them.


The whole congregation brought him outside the camp and stoned him to death, just as the Lord had commanded Moses.


But if you are not listened to, take one or two others along with you, so that every word may be confirmed by the evidence of two or three witnesses.


In your law it is written that the testimony of two witnesses is valid.


For he says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.”


This is the third time I am coming to you. “Any charge must be sustained by the evidence of two or three witnesses.”


Show no pity; you shall purge the guilt of innocent blood from Israel, so that it may go well with you.


A single witness shall not suffice to convict a person of any crime or wrongdoing in connection with any offense that may be committed. Only on the evidence of two or three witnesses shall a charge be sustained.


See that you do not refuse the one who is speaking; for if they did not escape when they refused the one who warned them on earth, how much less will we escape if we reject the one who warns from heaven!


For if the message declared through angels was valid, and every transgression or disobedience received a just penalty,


For judgment will be without mercy to anyone who has shown no mercy; mercy triumphs over judgment.
