Surely this came upon Judah at the command of the Lord, to remove them out of his sight, for the sins of Manasseh, for all that he had committed,


and also for the innocent blood that he had shed; for he filled Jerusalem with innocent blood, and the Lord was not willing to pardon.


Thus they became unclean by their acts, and prostituted themselves in their doings.


How the faithful city has become a whore! She that was full of justice, righteousness lodged in her— but now murderers!


But I the Lord will speak the word that I speak, and it will be fulfilled. It will no longer be delayed; but in your days, O rebellious house, I will speak the word and fulfill it, says the Lord God.


You, mortal, will you judge, will you judge the bloody city? Then declare to it all its abominable deeds.


Its officials within it are like wolves tearing the prey, shedding blood, destroying lives to get dishonest gain.


You have become guilty by the blood that you have shed, and defiled by the idols that you have made; you have brought your day near, the appointed time of your years has come. Therefore I have made you a disgrace before the nations, and a mockery to all the countries.


The princes of Israel in you, everyone according to his power, have been bent on shedding blood.


For they have committed adultery, and blood is on their hands; with their idols they have committed adultery; and they have even offered up to them for food the children whom they had borne to me.

The officials within it are roaring lions; its judges are evening wolves that leave nothing until the morning.


But by your hard and impenitent heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath, when God's righteous judgment will be revealed.


And in their greed they will exploit you with deceptive words. Their condemnation, pronounced against them long ago, has not been idle, and their destruction is not asleep.
