In the Lord I take refuge. How then can you say to me: ‘Flee like a bird to your mountain.


Look on me and answer, Lord my God. Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death,


But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation.


The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.


You, Lord, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light.


I trust in you; do not let me be put to shame, nor let my enemies triumph over me.


Vindicate me, Lord, for I have led a blameless life; I have trusted in the Lord and have not faltered.


Arise, Lord! Deliver me, my God! Strike all my enemies on the jaw; break the teeth of the wicked.


that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent. Lord my God, I will praise you for ever.


Lord my God, I called to you for help, and you healed me.


My times are in your hands; deliver me from the hands of my enemies, from those who pursue me.


Many are the woes of the wicked, but the Lord’s unfailing love surrounds the one who trusts in him.


Then I will go to the altar of God, to God, my joy and my delight. I will praise you with the lyre, O God, my God.


He will call out to me, “You are my Father, my God, the Rock my Saviour.”


Who among you fears the Lord and obeys the word of his servant? Let the one who walks in the dark, who has no light, trust in the name of the Lord and rely on their God.


Lord, you understand; remember me and care for me. Avenge me on my persecutors. You are long-suffering – do not take me away; think of how I suffer reproach for your sake.


But the Lord is with me like a mighty warrior; so my persecutors will stumble and not prevail. They will fail and be thoroughly disgraced; their dishonour will never be forgotten.

but my fellow Israelites who went up with me made the hearts of the people sink. I, however, followed the Lord my God wholeheartedly.


Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God.


So then, those who suffer according to God’s will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good.
