This is the word that the Lord has spoken against him: ‘ “Virgin Daughter Zion despises you and mocks you. Daughter Jerusalem tosses her head as you flee.


The Lord is in his holy temple; the Lord is on his heavenly throne. He observes everyone on earth; his eyes examine them.


Our God is in heaven; he does whatever pleases him.


I lift up my eyes to you, to you who sit enthroned in heaven.


but the Lord laughs at the wicked, for he knows their day is coming.


But there they are, overwhelmed with dread, where there was nothing to dread. God scattered the bones of those who attacked you; you put them to shame, for God despised them.


But you laugh at them, Lord; you scoff at all those nations.


You are my strength, I watch for you; you, God, are my fortress,


to him who rides across the highest heavens, the ancient heavens, who thunders with mighty voice.


I in turn will laugh when disaster strikes you; I will mock when calamity overtakes you –


He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in.


For this is what the high and exalted One says – he who lives for ever, whose name is holy: ‘I live in a high and holy place, but also with the one who is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite.


This is what the Lord says: ‘Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. Where is the house you will build for me? Where will my resting-place be?
