Now, Lord our God, deliver us from his hand, so that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you alone, Lord, are God.’


He is the Lord our God; his judgments are in all the earth.


Does it please you to oppress me, to spurn the work of your hands, while you smile on the plans of the wicked?


Your hands made me and formed me; give me understanding to learn your commands.


those who say, ‘By our tongues we will prevail; our own lips will defend us – who is lord over us?’


Let Israel rejoice in their Maker; let the people of Zion be glad in their King.


He says, ‘Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.’


But he brought his people out like a flock; he led them like sheep through the wilderness.


Then we your people, the sheep of your pasture, will praise you for ever; from generation to generation we will proclaim your praise.


For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods.


I will take you as my own people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the Lord your God, who brought you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians.


Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of trouble come and the years approach when you will say, ‘I find no pleasure in them’ –

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.


Jeshurun grew fat and kicked; filled with food, they became heavy and sleek. They abandoned the God who made them and rejected the Rock their Saviour.


Is this the way you repay the Lord, you foolish and unwise people? Is he not your Father, your Creator, who made you and formed you?


You were shown these things so that you might know that the Lord is God; besides him there is no other.


Acknowledge and take to heart this day that the Lord is God in heaven above and on the earth below. There is no other.


Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.


For ‘you were like sheep going astray,’ but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.


But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.


So then, those who suffer according to God’s will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good.


We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true. And we are in him who is true by being in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.
