He replied, ‘Because the knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, but not to them.


when anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in their heart. This is the seed sown along the path.


and throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.


He said to them, ‘Therefore every teacher of the law who has become a disciple in the kingdom of heaven is like the owner of a house who brings out of his storeroom new treasures as well as old.’


‘Don’t you see that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and then out of the body?


How is it you don’t understand that I was not talking to you about bread? But be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.’


‘So when you see standing in the holy place “the abomination that causes desolation,” spoken of through the prophet Daniel – let the reader understand –


He did not say anything to them without using a parable. But when he was alone with his own disciples, he explained everything.


‘Are you so dull?’ he asked. ‘Don’t you see that nothing that enters a person from the outside can defile them?


We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true. And we are in him who is true by being in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.
