The ruthless will vanish, the mockers will disappear, and all who have an eye for evil will be cut down –


Leave them; they are blind guides. If the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit.’


You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you:


‘Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the door of the kingdom of heaven in people’s faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to.


In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.


You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.


Meanwhile, when a crowd of many thousands had gathered, so that they were trampling on one another, Jesus began to speak first to his disciples, saying: ‘Be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.

he sent them to the Lord to ask, ‘Are you the one who is to come, or should we expect someone else?’
