‘Look, Lord, and consider: whom have you ever treated like this? Should women eat their offspring, the children they have cared for? Should priest and prophet be killed in the sanctuary of the Lord?


Early in the morning, all the chief priests and the elders of the people made their plans how to have Jesus executed.


So they bound him, led him away and handed him over to Pilate the governor.


‘Men of Galilee,’ they said, ‘why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.’


Utterly amazed, they asked: ‘Aren’t all these who are speaking Galileans?


After him, Judas the Galilean appeared in the days of the census and led a band of people in revolt. He too was killed, and all his followers were scattered.
