After this, the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision: ‘Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward.’


Your righteousness, God, reaches to the heavens, you who have done great things. Who is like you, God?


Let the rivers clap their hands, let the mountains sing together for joy;


The desert and the parched land will be glad; the wilderness will rejoice and blossom. Like the crocus,


So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.


Sing for joy, you heavens, for the Lord has done this; shout aloud, you earth beneath. Burst into song, you mountains, you forests and all your trees, for the Lord has redeemed Jacob, he displays his glory in Israel.


‘Do not be afraid; you will not be put to shame. Do not fear disgrace; you will not be humiliated. You will forget the shame of your youth and remember no more the reproach of your widowhood.


You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.


“Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.”


‘In that day I will respond,’ declares the Lord – ‘I will respond to the skies, and they will respond to the earth;


‘I will drive the northern horde far from you, pushing it into a parched and barren land; its eastern ranks will drown in the Dead Sea and its western ranks in the Mediterranean Sea. And its stench will go up; its smell will rise.’ Surely he has done great things!


You will have plenty to eat, until you are full, and you will praise the name of the Lord your God, who has worked wonders for you; never again will my people be shamed.


‘so now I have determined to do good again to Jerusalem and Judah. Do not be afraid.


Ask now about the former days, long before your time, from the day God created human beings on the earth; ask from one end of the heavens to the other. Has anything so great as this ever happened, or has anything like it ever been heard of?


‘Now then, stand still and see this great thing the Lord is about to do before your eyes!


But be sure to fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart; consider what great things he has done for you.
