Jesus replied, ‘You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God.


Jesus replied, ‘Are you not in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God?


He is not the God of the dead, but of the living. You are badly mistaken!’


In those days Peter stood up among the believers (a group numbering about a hundred and twenty)


Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men


Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.


Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed – not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence – continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling,

I tell you this so that no-one may deceive you by fine-sounding arguments.


See to it that no-one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ.


who have departed from the truth. They say that the resurrection has already taken place, and they destroy the faith of some.


Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters.


My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry,


Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds,


My brothers and sisters, believers in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ must not show favouritism.


What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them?


Listen, my dear brothers and sisters: has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he promised those who love him?


Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly.


Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be.


Brothers and sisters, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against a brother or sister or judges them speaks against the law and judges it. When you judge the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgment on it.


Above all, my brothers and sisters, do not swear – not by heaven or by earth or by anything else. All you need to say is a simple ‘Yes’ or ‘No’. Otherwise you will be condemned.


My brothers and sisters, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring that person back,
