How often are they like straw before the wind, like chaff swept away by a gale?


Terrors overwhelm me; my dignity is driven away as by the wind, my safety vanishes like a cloud.


Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away.


May you blow them away like smoke – as wax melts before the fire, may the wicked perish before God.


Although the peoples roar like the roar of surging waters, when he rebukes them they flee far away, driven before the wind like chaff on the hills, like tumble-weed before a gale.


Then the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver and the gold were all broken to pieces and became like chaff on a threshing-floor in the summer. The wind swept them away without leaving a trace. But the rock that struck the statue became a huge mountain and filled the whole earth.
