Who of all the gods of these countries has been able to save his land from me? How then can the Lord deliver Jerusalem from my hand?’


For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Saviour; I give Egypt for your ransom, Cush and Seba in your stead.


‘When Israel was a child, I loved him, and out of Egypt I called my son.


I spoke to the prophets, gave them many visions and told parables through them.’


‘I have been the Lord your God ever since you came out of Egypt; I will make you live in tents again, as in the days of your appointed festivals.


There I will give her back her vineyards, and will make the Valley of Achor a door of hope. There she will respond as in the days of her youth, as in the day she came up out of Egypt.


I will betroth you in faithfulness, and you will acknowledge the Lord.


And the Lord commanded the fish, and it vomited Jonah onto dry land.


Salvation is found in no-one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.’
