The Nephilim were on the earth in those days – and also afterwards – when the sons of God went to the daughters of humans and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown.


And David became famous after he returned from striking down eighteen thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt.


They mounted up to the heavens and went down to the depths; in their peril their courage melted away.


For surely your enemies, Lord, surely your enemies will perish; all evildoers will be scattered.


The name of the righteous is used in blessings, but the name of the wicked will rot.


Even if Babylon ascends to the heavens and fortifies her lofty stronghold, I will send destroyers against her,’ declares the Lord.


The tree grew large and strong and its top touched the sky; it was visible to the ends of the earth.


Your Majesty, you are that tree! You have become great and strong; your greatness has grown until it reaches the sky, and your dominion extends to distant parts of the earth.

How can you believe since you accept glory from one another but do not seek the glory that comes from the only God?

The Lord will scatter you among the peoples, and only a few of you will survive among the nations to which the Lord will drive you.


Hear, Israel: you are now about to cross the Jordan to go in and dispossess nations greater and stronger than you, with large cities that have walls up to the sky.
