21 So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living thing with which the water teems and that moves about in it, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.

And God said, ‘Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the vault of the sky.’


God blessed them and said, ‘Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth.’


God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.


God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning – the sixth day.


Now the Lord God had formed out of the ground all the wild animals and all the birds in the sky. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name.


Two of every kind of bird, of every kind of animal and of every kind of creature that moves along the ground will come to you to be kept alive.


They had with them every wild animal according to its kind, all livestock according to their kinds, every creature that moves along the ground according to its kind and every bird according to its kind, everything with wings.


Bring out every kind of living creature that is with you – the birds, the animals, and all the creatures that move along the ground – so they can multiply on the earth and be fruitful and increase in number on it.’


All the animals and all the creatures that move along the ground and all the birds – everything that moves on land – came out of the ark, one kind after another.


The fear and dread of you will fall on all the beasts of the earth, and on all the birds in the sky, on every creature that moves along the ground, and on all the fish in the sea; they are given into your hands.


As for you, be fruitful and increase in number; multiply on the earth and increase upon it.’


‘But ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds in the sky, and they will tell you;


‘The dead are in deep anguish, those beneath the waters and all that live in them.


Am I the sea, or the monster of the deep, that you put me under guard?


Praise the Lord from the earth, you great sea creatures and all ocean depths,


but the Israelites were exceedingly fruitful; they multiplied greatly, increased in numbers and became so numerous that the land was filled with them.


The Nile will teem with frogs. They will come up into your palace and your bedroom and onto your bed, into the houses of your officials and on your people, and into your ovens and kneading troughs.


‘Son of man, take up a lament concerning Pharaoh king of Egypt and say to him: ‘ “You are like a lion among the nations; you are like a monster in the seas thrashing about in your streams, churning the water with your feet and muddying the streams.


Now the Lord provided a huge fish to swallow Jonah, and Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.


And the Lord commanded the fish, and it vomited Jonah onto dry land.


For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
