That night the king could not sleep; so he ordered the book of the chronicles, the record of his reign, to be brought in and read to him.


The word came to Jeremiah concerning all the people of Judah in the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah, which was the first year of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon.


he said to them, ‘I have had a dream that troubles me and I want to know what it means.’


It is my pleasure to tell you about the miraculous signs and wonders that the Most High God has performed for me.


I had a dream that made me afraid. As I was lying in bed, the images and visions that passed through my mind terrified me.


So King Belshazzar became even more terrified and his face grew more pale. His nobles were baffled.


Then the king returned to his palace and spent the night without eating and without any entertainment being brought to him. And he could not sleep.


In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon, Daniel had a dream, and visions passed through his mind as he was lying in bed. He wrote down the substance of his dream.


‘I, Daniel, was troubled in spirit, and the visions that passed through my mind disturbed me.
