The Lord detests the thoughts of the wicked, but gracious words are pure in his sight.


‘Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost.


Then Daniel answered the king, ‘You may keep your gifts for yourself and give your rewards to someone else. Nevertheless, I will read the writing for the king and tell him what it means.


The Lord Almighty declares, “I will send it out, and it will enter the house of the thief and the house of anyone who swears falsely by my name. It will remain in that house and destroy it completely, both its timbers and its stones.” ’


Heal those who are ill, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.


For out of the heart come evil thoughts – murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander.


(With the payment he received for his wickedness, Judas bought a field; there he fell headlong, his body burst open and all his intestines spilled out.


The circumcised believers who had come with Peter were astonished that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on Gentiles.


So if God gave them the same gift he gave us who believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I to think that I could stand in God’s way?’


Peter replied, ‘Repent and be baptised, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.


and said, ‘Give me also this ability so that everyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit.’


Repent of this wickedness and pray to the Lord in the hope that he may forgive you for having such a thought in your heart.


Be careful not to harbour this wicked thought: ‘The seventh year, the year for cancelling debts, is near,’ so that you do not show ill will towards the needy among your fellow Israelites and give them nothing. They may then appeal to the Lord against you, and you will be found guilty of sin.


Do not bring a detestable thing into your house or you, like it, will be set apart for destruction. Regard it as vile and utterly detest it, for it is set apart for destruction.


Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.


Your gold and silver are corroded. Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last days.


The merchants who sold these things and gained their wealth from her will stand far off, terrified at her torment. They will weep and mourn
