3 After his suffering, he presented himself to them and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God.

So he got up and ate and drank. Strengthened by that food, he travelled for forty days and forty nights until he reached Horeb, the mountain of God.


‘Therefore I tell you that the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people who will produce its fruit.


Suddenly Jesus met them. ‘Greetings,’ he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshipped him.


and saying, ‘Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.’


After fasting for forty days and forty nights, he was hungry.


After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God.


A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, ‘Peace be with you!’


Afterwards Jesus appeared again to his disciples, by the Sea of Galilee. It happened this way:


This was now the third time Jesus appeared to his disciples after he was raised from the dead.


and for many days he was seen by those who had travelled with him from Galilee to Jerusalem. They are now his witnesses to our people.


Paul entered the synagogue and spoke boldly there for three months, arguing persuasively about the kingdom of God.


They arranged to meet Paul on a certain day, and came in even larger numbers to the place where he was staying. He witnessed to them from morning till evening, explaining about the kingdom of God, and from the Law of Moses and from the Prophets he tried to persuade them about Jesus.


He proclaimed the kingdom of God and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ – with all boldness and without hindrance!


But when they believed Philip as he proclaimed the good news of the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptised, both men and women.


For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit,


Then once again I fell prostrate before the Lord for forty days and forty nights; I ate no bread and drank no water, because of all the sin you had committed, doing what was evil in the Lord’s sight and so arousing his anger.


When I went up on the mountain to receive the tablets of stone, the tablets of the covenant that the Lord had made with you, I stayed on the mountain for forty days and forty nights; I ate no bread and drank no water.


For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves,


encouraging, comforting and urging you to live lives worthy of God, who calls you into his kingdom and glory.


That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched – this we proclaim concerning the Word of life.
