A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity.


But when the son of Paul’s sister heard of this plot, he went into the barracks and told Paul.


but Saul learned of their plan. Day and night they kept close watch on the city gates in order to kill him.


Saul told his son Jonathan and all the attendants to kill David. But Jonathan had taken a great liking to David


I will go out and stand with my father in the field where you are. I’ll speak to him about you and will tell you what I find out.’


‘Never!’ Jonathan replied. ‘You are not going to die! Look, my father doesn’t do anything, great or small, without letting me know. Why should he hide this from me? It isn’t so!’


So David said, ‘Look, tomorrow is the New Moon feast, and I am supposed to dine with the king; but let me go and hide in the field until the evening of the day after tomorrow.
