6 Then they went to the camp of the Israelites. This camp was near Gilgal. The men went to Joshua and said to him, “We have traveled from a faraway country. We want to make a peace agreement with you.”

“People from other places will hear about your greatness and your power. They will come from far away to pray at this Temple.


Then Isaiah the prophet came to King Hezekiah and asked him, “What did these men say? Where did they come from?” Hezekiah said, “These men came from a faraway country, from Babylon.”


Then Joshua and all the Israelites returned to their camp at Gilgal.


The people in the city of Gibeon sent a message to Joshua at his camp at Gilgal: “We are your servants! Don’t leave us alone. Come and help us! Hurry! Save us! All the Amorite kings from the hill country have brought their armies together to fight against us.”


The people crossed the Jordan River on the tenth day of the first month and camped at Gilgal, east of Jericho.


The Israelites celebrated Passover while they were camped at Gilgal on the plains of Jericho. This was on the evening of the 14th day of the month.


The men put old sandals on their feet and wore old clothes. They found some old bread that was dry and moldy.


The men answered, “We are your servants. We have come from a faraway country. We came because we heard of the great power of the Lord your God. We heard about what he has done and about everything he did in Egypt.
