One told David, saying, Achitofel is among the conspirators with Avshalom. David said, LORD, please turn the counsel of Achitofel into foolishness.


Avshalom and all the men of Yisra'el said, The counsel of Chushai the Arki is better than the counsel of Achitofel. For the LORD had ordained to defeat the good counsel of Achitofel, to the intent that the LORD might bring evil on Avshalom.


When Achitofel saw that his counsel was not followed, he saddled his donkey, and arose, and got him home, to his city, and set his house in order, and hanged himself; and he died, and was buried in the tomb of his father.


Achazyah fell down through the lattice in his upper chamber that was in Shomron, and was sick: and he sent messengers, and said to them, Go, inquire of Ba`al-Zevuv, the god of `Ekron, whether I shall recover of this sickness.


So Sha'ul died for his trespass which he committed against the LORD, because of the word of the LORD, which he didn't keep; and also because he asked counsel of one who had a familiar spirit, to inquire [thereby],


They reel back and forth, and stagger like a drunken man, and are at their wits' end.

There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.

When they tell you, *Consult with those who have familiar spirits and with the wizards, who chirp and who mutter:* shouldn't a people consult with their God? Should they consult the dead on behalf of the living?


Why are your strong ones swept away? they didn't stand, because the LORD did drive them.

Can your heart endure, or can your hands be strong, in the days that I shall deal with you? I, the LORD, have spoken it, and will do it.


In every matter of wisdom and understanding, concerning which the king inquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters who were in all his realm.


Then the king commanded to call the magicians, and the enchanters, and the sorcerers, and the Kasdim, to tell the king his dreams. So they came in and stood before the king.


The king cried aloud to bring in the enchanters, the Kasdim, and the soothsayers. The king spoke and said to the wise men of Bavel, Whoever shall read this writing, and show me the interpretation of it, shall be clothed with purple, and have a chain of gold about his neck, and shall be the third ruler in the kingdom.


It happened in the morning, when the wine was gone out of Naval, that his wife told him these things, and his heart died within him, and he became as a stone.
