Nevertheless, David took the stronghold of Zion, that is, the city of David.


And David said on that day, “Whoever would strike the Jebusites, let him get up the water shaft to attack ‘the lame and the blind,’ who are hated by David’s soul.” Therefore it is said, “The blind and the lame shall not come into the house.”


So David was not willing to take the ark of the Lord into the city of David. But David took it aside to the house of Obed-edom the Gittite.


And this was the reason why he lifted up his hand against the king. Solomon built the Millo, and closed up the breach of the city of David his father.


Then David slept with his fathers and was buried in the city of David.


And this is the account of the forced labor that King Solomon drafted to build the house of the Lord and his own house and the Millo and the wall of Jerusalem and Hazor and Megiddo and Gezer


But Pharaoh’s daughter went up from the city of David to her own house that Solomon had built for her. Then he built the Millo.

But if not, let fire come out from Abimelech and devour the leaders of Shechem and Beth-millo; and let fire come out from the leaders of Shechem and from Beth-millo and devour Abimelech.”


And all the leaders of Shechem came together, and all Beth-millo, and they went and made Abimelech king, by the oak of the pillar at Shechem.
