And God said to people,\par “Fear and respect the Lord—\par that is wisdom.\par Don’t do evil things—\par that is understanding.”\par


But if God decides not to help them,\par then no person can judge God guilty.\par If God hides himself from people,\par then no person can find him.\par God is the ruler over people and nations.\par


God makes us wiser\par than the birds and animals.\par \{So where is he?\}’\par


Remove those people from your land!\par


Lord, give me the knowledge\par to make wise decisions.\par I trust your commands.\par


Let them go punish their enemies.\par Let them go punish those people.\par


God, with your great power\par you took this land from other people,\par and you gave it to us.\par You crushed those foreign people.\par You forced them to leave this land.\par


You criticized those other people.\par Lord, you destroyed those bad people.\par You erased their names forever and ever\par \{from the list of people who are alive\}.\par


The Lord gives wisdom. Knowledge and understanding come from his mouth.


My Master will finish doing the things he planned to Jerusalem and Mount Zion. {\cf2\super [116]} Then the Lord will punish Assyria. {\cf2\super [117]} The king of Assyria is very proud. His pride made him do many bad things. So God will punish him.


Many people will go there. They will say, “Come! Let’s go up to the Lord’s mountain. Let’s go up to the temple of the God of Jacob. Then God will teach us his way of living. And we will follow him.”


Our God is using this to teach you a lesson. \{This example\} shows us that God is fair when he punishes his people.


\{That night,\} the angel of the Lord went out and killed 185,000 people in the Assyrian camp. When the people got up in the morning, they saw the dead bodies all around them.


Your children will follow God,\par and he will teach them.\par Your children will have real peace.\par


If you are angry, then punish the other nations.\par They don’t know or respect you.\par Those people don’t worship you.\par Those nations destroyed Jacob’s family.\par They destroyed Israel completely.\par They destroyed Israel’s homeland.\par


\{God said,\} “I will let the other nations see what I have done. And those nations will begin to respect me! They will see my power that I used against that enemy.


“There are many families on earth. But you are the only family I chose to know in a special way. \{And you turned against me.\} So I will punish you for all your sins.”


In anger you walked on the earth\par and punished the nations.\par


It is written in the prophets {\cf2\super [91]} : ‘God will teach all the people.’ {\cf2\super [92]} People listen to the Father and learn from him. Those people come to me.
