I don’t need to prove to you that you\par are wrong. Why?\par The things you say with your own mouth\par show that you are wrong.\par Your own lips speak against you.\par


Lord, don’t let my enemies win.\par Those people are planning bad things.\par But make those bad things happen to them.\par


Lord, send the lightning\par and make my enemies run away.\par Shoot your “arrows”\par and make them run away.\par


Everyone who looks at me\par makes fun of me.\par They shake their heads\par and stick out their tongues at me.\par


My enemies hate me.\par And all my neighbors hate me, too.\par All my relatives see me in the street.\par They are afraid of me and avoid me.\par


Good people will see this\par and will learn to fear and respect God.\par They will laugh at you and say,\par


Those evil people curse and tell lies.\par Punish them for the things they said.\par Let their pride trap them.\par


My enemies turned to run from you.\par But they fell and were destroyed.\par


An evil person says foolish things and is trapped by his words. But a good person escapes from that kind of trouble.


When a foolish person talks, he ruins himself. His own words trap him.


So Judah’s country will become\par an empty desert.\par People will whistle and shake their heads\par every time they pass by.\par They will be shocked\par at how the country was destroyed.\par


“Moab, you made fun of Israel.\par Israel was caught by a gang of thieves.\par Every time you spoke about Israel,\par you shook your head and acted like you\par were better than Israel.\par


Everyone who sees you will be shocked.\par They will say,\par ‘Nineveh is destroyed.\par Who will cry for her?’\par I know I cannot find anyone\par to comfort you, Nineveh.”\par


The people of Israel heard the cries of the men being destroyed. So they all ran in different directions and said, “The earth will kill us, too!”


The Jewish priests and leaders said, “He will surely kill those evil men. Then he will lease the land to some other farmers. He will lease it to farmers that will give him his share of the crop at harvest time.”


Then the king said to the servant, ‘You bad servant! I will use your own words to condemn you. You said that I am a hard man. You said that I even take money that I didn’t earn and gather food that I didn’t grow.
