Psalm 143:2
12 Tagairtí Cros

“Your people will sin against you. I know this because every person sins. And you will be angry with your people. You will let their enemies defeat them. Their enemies will make them prisoners and carry them to some faraway land.

That is true, but God, will you look at me, a man? And will you come into court with me and let us both give our arguments?

“A man can’t really be pure.\par A person {\cf2\super [25]} can’t be more right than God!\par

Compared to God, no person is good.\par No human being {\cf2\super [45]} can really be pure.\par

‘A person can’t be more right than God.\par Man can’t be more pure than his Maker.\par

Lord, if you really punished people\par for all of their sins,\par no person would be left alive.\par

The Lord shows his kindness to thousands {of generations}. The Lord forgives [340] people for the wrong things they do. But the Lord does not forget to punish guilty people. The Lord will punish not only the guilty people, but their children, their grandchildren, and their great-grandchildren will suffer for the bad things those people do. [341] ”

Why? Because no person can be made right with God by following the law. The law only shows us our sin.

We know that a person is not made right with God by following the law. {\cf2\super [18]} No! It is trusting in Jesus Christ that makes a person right with God. So we have put our faith in Christ Jesus, because we wanted to be made right with God. And we are right with God because we trusted in Christ—not because we followed the law. \{This is true\} because no person can be made right with God by following the law.

If we say that we have not sinned, then we are saying that God is a liar—we don’t accept God’s true teaching.
