I am one of many peaceful, loyal people in this town. You are trying to destroy an important city of Israel. Why do you want to destroy something that belongs to the Lord?”


So that person becomes strong\par like a tree planted by streams of water\par He is like a tree that makes fruit\par at the right time.\par He is like a tree with leaves that don’t die.\par Everything he does is successful.\par


God brought his people out from Egypt.\par The people came out rejoicing\par and singing their happy songs!\par


You are descendants {\cf2\super [546]} of his servant Abraham.\par You are descendants of Jacob,\par the man God chose.\par


You can hear the victory celebration\par in good people’s houses.\par The Lord showed his great power again.\par


Who on Zion {\cf2\super [77]} saves Israel?\par \{It is the Lord who saves Israel!\}\par The Lord’s people were taken away\par and forced to be prisoners.\par But the Lord will bring his people back.\par Then Jacob (Israel) will be very happy.\par


\{God,\} Mount Zion is happy.\par The towns of Judah rejoice\par because of your good decisions.\par


People of Zion, {\cf2\super [140]} shout about these things!\par The Holy One of Israel is with you\par in a powerful way.\par So, be happy!\par


God will make his people free! And those people will come back to him. The people will be happy when they come into Zion. {\cf2\super [333]} The people will be happy forever. Their happiness will be like a crown on their heads. Their gladness and joy will fill them completely. Sorrow and sadness will be gone far, far away.


The Lord will help the people of Israel do good, and the people will be very proud of their God.


Jerusalem, be happy!\par All you people who love Jerusalem,\par be happy!\par Sad things happened to Jerusalem,\par so some of you people are sad.\par But now you people should be happy.\par


So be happy, people of Zion. {\cf2\super [18]} \par Be joyful in the Lord your God.\par He will be good and give you rain.\par He will send you the early rains\par and the late rains like before.\par

You did not choose me; I chose you. And I gave you this work: to go and make fruit. I want this fruit to continue \{in your life\}. Then the Father will give you anything you ask for in my name.


It is the same with you. Now you are sad. But I will see you again and you will be truly happy. You will have a happiness that no one can take away.


But the Lord (Jesus) said to Ananias, “Go! I have chosen Saul for an important work. He must tell about me to kings, to the Jewish people, and to other nations.


I pray that God will open your minds to see his truth. Then you will know the hope that God has chosen us to have. You will know that the blessings God has promised his holy people {\cf2\super [7]} are rich and glorious.


In Christ, God chose us before the world was made. God chose us in love to be his holy people {\cf2\super [4]} —people with no wrong in us before him.


The Lord’s share is his people; Jacob (Israel) belongs to the Lord.


Why? Because you are the Lord’s own people. From all the people on earth, the Lord your God chose you to be his special people—people that belong only to him.


But we are the people who are truly circumcised. {\cf2\super [16]} We worship (serve) God through his Spirit. {\cf2\super [17]} We are proud to be in Christ Jesus. And we don’t trust in ourselves or anything we can do.


Brothers and sisters, the Lord loves you. God chose you from the beginning to be saved. So we should always thank God for you. You are saved by the Spirit {\cf2\super [7]} making you holy {\cf2\super [8]} and by your faith (believing) in the truth.


Listen, my dear brothers and sisters! God chose the poor people in the world to be rich with faith. He chose them to receive the kingdom God promised to people who love him.


But you are chosen people. You are the King’s priests. You are a holy {\cf2\super [20]} nation of people. You are people who belong to God. God chose you to tell about the wonderful things he has done. He called (brought) you out of darkness (sin) into his wonderful light.


They will make war against the Lamb. But the Lamb will defeat them, because he is Lord of lords and King of kings. He will defeat them with his chosen and faithful followers—the people that he has called.”
