We will catch David in the place where he is hiding. We will attack David with many soldiers—We will be like the many drops of dew that cover the ground. We will kill David and all of his men. No man will be left alive.


Your people will volunteer\par when you gather your army together.\par They will wear their special clothes\par and meet together early in the morning,\par Those young men will be\par \{all around you\} like dew on the ground. {\cf2\super [574]} \par


It is like a gentle rain {\cf2\super [623]} \par from Mount Hermon\par falling on Mount Zion. {\cf2\super [624]} \par


Help the king be\par like rain falling on the fields,\par like showers falling on the land.\par


Angry words from a king are like the roars of a lion. But compliments from him are like a gentle rain falling softly on the grass.


“I will pour water for thirsty people. I will make streams flow on dry land. I will pour my Spirit on your children—it will be like a stream of water flowing over your family.


“Rain and snow fall from the sky.\par And they don’t go back to the sky\par until they touch the ground\par and make the ground wet.\par Then the ground makes plants sprout and grow.\par These plants make seeds for the farmer.\par And people use these seeds to make bread to eat.\par


I will put a mark on some of the people—\{I will save them\}. Foreign idols don’t have the power\par to bring rain.\par The sky does not have the power\par to send showers of rain down.\par You are our only hope.\par You are the One who made all these things.”\par


“‘You prophets tell lies. Your lies hurt good people—I did not want to hurt those good people! You support bad people and encourage them. You don’t tell them to change their lives. You don’t try to save their lives!


The man led me back to the entrance of the temple. I saw water coming out from under the east gate of the temple. (The front of the temple is on the east side.) The water flowed down from under the south end of the temple and ran south of the altar. {\cf2\super [463]}


Then the Lord my Master said to me, “That \{brick\} is a picture of Jerusalem. I put Jerusalem in the middle of other nations. And there are countries all around her.


“‘The northern king will use lies and smooth talking to trick the Jews that quit following the holy agreement. Those Jews will sin even worse. But the Jews that know God and obey him will be strong. They will fight back!


I will be like the dew to Israel.\par Israel will blossom like the lily. {\cf2\super [149]} \par He will grow like the cedar trees of Lebanon.\par


Let’s learn about the Lord.\par Let’s try very hard to know the Lord.\par We know he is coming,\par like we know the dawn is coming.\par The Lord will come to us like the rain,\par like the spring rain that waters the ground.”\par


And then, any person\par that calls on the name of the Lord\par will be saved.\par There will be survivors on Mount Zion {\cf2\super [23]} and in Jerusalem,\par just like the Lord said.\par Yes, the survivors that the Lord is calling\par will come \{back\}.\par


Hate evil and love goodness.\par Bring fairness back into the courts.\par Maybe then the Lord God All-Powerful\par will be kind to the survivors {\cf2\super [70]} \par from Joseph’s family.\par


Yes, people of Jacob, {\cf2\super [33]} \par I will bring all of you together.\par I will bring together all the survivors {\cf2\super [34]} \par of Israel.\par I will put them together\par like sheep in the sheep pen,\par like a flock in its pasture.\par Then the place will be filled\par with the noise of many people.\par


“Daughter of Zion, {\cf2\super [57]} \par get up and crush those people!\par \{I will make you very strong.\}\par It will be like you have horns of iron,\par and hooves {\cf2\super [58]} of bronze.\par You will beat many people into small pieces.\par You will give their wealth to the Lord.\par You will give their treasure\par


The people of that ‘crippled’ city\par will become the survivors. {\cf2\super [51]} \par The people of that city\par were forced to leave.\par But I will make them into a strong nation.”\par The Lord will be their king.\par He will rule from Mount Zion {\cf2\super [52]} forever.\par


So the Lord {\cf2\super [61]} will give up his people\par until the woman gives birth to her child,\par \{the promised king\}.\par Then the rest of his brothers\par will come back to the people of Israel.\par


But the survivors {\cf2\super [67]} from Jacob in the nations\par scattered among those people\par will be like a lion\par among the animals in the forest.\par They will be like a young lion\par among flocks of sheep.\par If the lion passes through,\par he goes where he wants to go.\par If he attacks an animal,\par then no one can save that animal.\par \{The survivors will be like that.\}\par


There is no God like you.\par You take away people’s guilt.\par


The survivors {\cf2\super [22]} of Israel won’t do bad things. They won’t tell lies. They won’t try to trick people with lies. They will be like sheep that eat and lie down in peace—and no one will bother them.”


At that time, water will flow continually from Jerusalem. {\cf2\super [32]} That stream will split and part of it will flow east, and part of it will flow west to the Mediterranean Sea. And it will flow all year long, in the summer as well as in the winter.


Judah, I will use you like a bow.\par Ephraim I will use you like arrows.\par Israel, I will use you like a sword\par to fight against the people of Greece.\par


So go and make followers of all people in the world. Baptize {\cf2\super [444]} them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. {\cf2\super [445]}


After I began my speech, the Holy Spirit {\cf2\super [223]} came on them the same as he (the Spirit) came on us at the beginning. {\cf2\super [224]}


But Paul and Barnabas spoke very boldly. They said, “We must speak the message {\cf2\super [277]} of God to you Jews first. But you refuse to listen. You are making yourselves lost—not worthy of having eternal life! So we will now go to the people of other nations!


That night Paul saw a vision. {\cf2\super [334]} In this vision, a man from the country of Macedonia came to Paul. The man stood there and begged, “Come across to Macedonia. Help us!”


But the Lord (Jesus) said to Ananias, “Go! I have chosen Saul for an important work. He must tell about me to kings, to the Jewish people, and to other nations.


Then Isaiah is bold enough to say this \{for God\}:


The Jews’ mistake brought rich blessings for the world. And what the Jews lost brought rich blessings for the non-Jewish people. So surely the world will get much richer blessings when enough Jews become the kind of people God wants.


So what does all this mean? It means this: That the non-Jews were not trying to make themselves right with God. But they were made right with God. They became right because of their faith.


I planted the seed (teaching) and Apollos watered it. But God is the One who made the seed grow.


My teachings will come like the rain, like a mist falling {to the ground}, like a gentle rain on the soft grass, like rain on the green plants.


Then Gideon said to God, “You said that you would help me save the people of Israel. Give me proof!
