Lord, don’t let those liars live.\par Make bad things happen\par to those bad people.\par


The Lord said to me, “You have seen very well. And I am watching {\cf2\super [3]} to make sure that my message to you comes true.”


“I will soon send for many fishermen to come to this land.” This message is from the Lord. “Those fishermen will catch the people of Judah. After that happens, I will send for many hunters to come to this land. Those hunters {\cf2\super [133]} will hunt the people of Judah on every mountain and hill and in the cracks of the rocks.


But when Jeremiah got to the Benjamin Gate of Jerusalem, {\cf2\super [321]} the captain in charge of the guards arrested him. The captain’s name was Irijah. Irijah was the son of Shelemiah. Shelemiah was the son of Hananiah. So Irijah the captain arrested Jeremiah and said, “Jeremiah, you are leaving us to join the Babylonian side.”


The prophets tell lies.\par The priests will not do\par what they were chosen to do. {\cf2\super [36]} \par And my people love it this way!\par But what will you people do\par when your punishment comes?”\par


The Lord All-Powerful,\par the God of the people of Israel, says:\par “Babylon is like a threshing floor. {\cf2\super [424]} \par At harvest time, people beat grain\par to separate the good parts from the chaff. {\cf2\super [425]} \par And the time to beat Babylon\par is coming soon.\par


Those people were my enemies\par for no good reason,\par but they hunted me like a bird.\par


The Lord said to me, “Amos, what do you see?”


Who are you chasing? Who is the king of Israel coming to fight against? You are not chasing someone who will hurt you! It is like you are chasing a dead dog or a flea.
