He went up above \{on the high mountain\},\par leading a parade of captives;\par to take the gifts from men, {\cf2\super [394]} \par including the people\par who turned against him.\par The Lord {\cf2\super [395]} God \{went up there\} to live.\par


There will be peace.\par Yes, the Assyrian army\par will come into our country\par and trample our large buildings.\par But the Ruler of Israel {\cf2\super [63]} will choose\par seven shepherds and eight leaders. {\cf2\super [64]} \par


Some people brought to Jesus a man that was paralyzed (crippled). The man was lying on a mat. Jesus saw that these people had much faith. So Jesus said to the paralyzed man, “Young man, you’ll be glad to hear this! Your sins are forgiven.”


“Praise God in heaven,\par and on earth let there be peace\par to the people that please God.”\par


Now is the time for the world to be judged. Now the ruler of this world (the devil) will be thrown out.


Jesus said, “Don’t be troubled. Trust in God. And trust in me.


“I leave you peace. It is my own peace I give you. I give you peace in a different way than the world does. So don’t be troubled. Don’t be afraid.


And the Helper will prove to the world the truth about judgment, because the ruler of this world (the devil) is already judged.


In those cities Paul and Barnabas made the followers \{of Jesus\} stronger. They helped them to stay in the faith. Paul and Barnabas said, “We must suffer many things on our way into God’s kingdom.”


The next night the Lord \{Jesus\} came and stood by Paul. He said, “Be brave! You have told people in Jerusalem about me. You must also go to Rome to tell people there about me!”


But now I tell you to be happy. None of you will die! But the ship will be lost.


So men, be happy! I trust in God. Everything will happen like his angel told me.


The church (believers) everywhere in Judea, Galilee, and Samaria had a time of peace. With the help of the Holy Spirit, {\cf2\super [196]} the group became stronger. The believers showed that they respected the Lord by the way they lived. Because of this, the group of believers grew larger and larger.


Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is the Father who is full of mercy. He is the God of all comfort.


Now, brothers and sisters, I say good-bye. Try to be perfect. Do the things I have asked you to do. Agree in your minds with each other, and live in peace. Then the God of love and peace will be with you.


But thanks be to God. God always leads us in victory through Christ. God uses us to spread his knowledge everywhere like a sweet-smelling perfume.


We have this treasure \{from God\}. But we are only like clay jars that hold the treasure. This shows that this great power is from God, not from us.


But in every way we show that we are servants of God: in accepting many hard things, in troubles, in difficulties, and in great problems.


I feel very sure of you. I am very proud of you. You give me much courage. And in all of our troubles I have great joy.


Jesus gave himself for our sins. Jesus did this to free us from this evil world we live in. This is what God the Father wanted.


I hope I will never boast about things like that. The cross (death) of our Lord Jesus Christ is my only reason for boasting. Through Jesus’ death on the cross the world is dead {\cf2\super [80]} to me; and I am dead to the world.


And God’s peace will keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. That peace which God gives is so great that we cannot understand it.


And through Christ, God was happy to bring all things back to himself again—things on earth and things in heaven. God made peace by using Christ’s blood (death) on the cross.


Even when we were with you, we told you that we all would have to suffer. And you know that it happened the way we said.


So, brothers and sisters, we are comforted about you, because of your faith. We have much trouble and suffering, but still we are comforted.


We pray that the Lord of peace will give you peace. We pray that he will give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.


Every person who wants to live the way God wants, in Christ Jesus, will be persecuted.


Moses chose not to enjoy the pleasures of sin. Those pleasures end quickly. Instead, Moses chose to suffer bad things with God’s people. Moses did this because he had faith.


And Abraham gave Melchizedek one-tenth of everything he had. (The name Melchizedek, king of Salem, has two meanings. First, Melchizedek means “king of goodness.” Also, “king of Salem” means “king of peace.”)


Refuse to follow the devil. Stand strong in your faith. You know that your brothers and sisters all over the world are having the same sufferings that you have.


I write to you, fathers,\par because you know the One who existed (lived) from the beginning.\par I write to you, young people,\par because you have defeated the\par Evil One (the devil).\par


My dear children, you belong to God. So you have defeated them (the false teachers). Why? Because the One (God) who is in you is greater than the one (the devil) who is in \{the people of\} the world.


I was very happy to learn about some of your children. I am happy that they are following the way of truth, like the Father (God) commanded us.


Our brothers defeated him by the blood (death) of the Lamb and by the message \{of God\} they told people. They did not love their lives too much. They were not afraid of death.


“I will let every person that wins the victory sit with me on my throne. It was the same with me. I won the victory and sat down with my Father on his throne.


I answered, “You know who they are, sir.”
