A person that hides his sins will not be successful. But a person that confesses his sins and stops doing wrong will receive mercy.


Now those people say, “We stop eating food to show honor to you. Why don’t you see us? We hurt our bodies to show honor to you. Why don’t you notice us?”


“Jeremiah, you will tell the people of Judah these things. And the people will ask you, ‘Why has the Lord said these terrible things to us? What have we done wrong? What sin have we done against the Lord our God?’


“Judah, how can you say to me,\par ‘I am not guilty;\par I have not worshiped the Baal {\cf2\super [13]} idols’?\par Think about the things you did in the valley.\par Think about what you have done.\par You are like a fast she-camel\par that runs from place to place.\par


“Why do you argue with me?\par All of you have turned against me.”\par This message was from the Lord.\par


The Lord says,\par “So now I will accuse you again,\par And I will also accuse your grandchildren.\par


The noise spreads to all the people on earth.\par What is all the noise about?\par The Lord is punishing the people\par from all the nations.\par The Lord told his arguments\par against the people.\par He judged the people.\par And now he is killing the evil people\par with a sword.’”\par This message is from the Lord.\par


I will set my trap, and he will be caught in it. And I will bring him to Babylon and I will punish him in that place. I will punish him because he turned against me.


I was alive without the law before I knew the law. But when the law’s command came to me, then sin began to live.
