God has blocked my way\par so I can’t go through.\par He has hidden my path in darkness.\par


But when I looked for good things.\par bad things came instead.\par When I looked for light, darkness came.\par


“They {\cf2\super [475]} don’t know what is happening.\par They don’t understand!\par They don’t know what they are doing,\par Their world is falling down around them!”\par


But bad people are like a dark night. They are lost in the darkness and they fall over things they can’t see.


So, the “lion” roars loud like the waves of the sea. And the captured people look at the ground, and then there is only darkness. All light becomes dark in this thick cloud.


We are all \{very sad\},\par making sad sounds like doves and bears.\par We are waiting for a time\par when people are fair.\par But there is no fairness yet.\par We are waiting to be saved,\par but salvation is still far away.\par


Justice has turned away from us.\par Fairness stands far away.\par Truth has fallen in the streets.\par Goodness is not allowed to enter the city.\par


Those people don’t know the way of peace. Those people don’t do what is right and fair. They are very crooked. And people who live like that will never have peace in their lives.


\{If you follow those wrong commands,\} then there will be troubles and hunger in the land. People will become hungry. Then they will become angry and say things against their king and his gods. {\cf2\super [106]} Then they will look up \{to God for help\}.


If they look around them at their land, then they will see only trouble and depressing darkness—the dark sadness of people forced to leave their country. And the people that are trapped in that darkness will not be able to free themselves.


Honor the Lord your God.\par Praise him or he will bring darkness.\par Praise him before you fall on the dark hills.\par You people of Judah are hoping for light.\par But the Lord will turn the light into thick darkness.\par The Lord will change the light into a very thick darkness.\par


“Lord, have you completely rejected\par the nation of Judah?\par Lord, do you hate Zion {\cf2\super [124]} ?\par You hurt us so badly\par that we can’t be made well again.\par Why did you do that?\par We were hoping for peace,\par but nothing good has come.\par We were hoping for a time of healing,\par but only terror came.\par


We hoped to have peace,\par but nothing good has come.\par We hoped that he would forgive us,\par but only disaster has come.\par


The Lord led and brought me\par into darkness, not light.\par


The prophets and priests walked around\par like blind men in the streets.\par They had become dirty with blood.\par No one could even touch their clothes\par because they were dirty.\par


The Lord also said these things:\par “At that time I will cause the sun\par to go down at noon.\par I will make the earth dark on a clear day.\par


People living in Maroth {\cf2\super [20]} become weak\par waiting for good \{news to come\}.\par Why? Because trouble has come down\par from the Lord to the city gate of Jerusalem.\par


Your eyes are too good to look at evil.\par You can’t watch people doing wrong.\par So how can you watch\par those evil people win?\par How can you watch bad people\par defeating good people?\par


People will say, “We have peace and we are safe.” At that time destruction will come to them quickly. Destruction will come like the pains of a woman who is having a baby. And those people will not escape.
